John F. (Jack) Callaghan was the son of immigrant parents who settled in Newark, NJ. He was a plumber by trade, and in 1902 he married Emma McGinley. They raised 4 children Cornelius, Philip, John, Jr. and Anne. In 1940 Anne C. Callaghan married Stanley Chaya of Old Forge, PA. They had two children, and their son John Chaya was named after his grandfather John Callaghan. John, his sons John, Jr. and Christopher founded the Ale House in 1998, and named it after “Old Jack”... who was known from time to time to enjoy a pint or two at the local pub.
